This flagship shop is full of TVs from the market-leading Korean brand and often offers package deals that give it a significant edge over the cheaper department stores.
Best for: Picking up a seriously Smart TV. Samsung’s range lets you watch TV, stream content from the Internet and even lets you update Facebook. You’ll never need to move from the sofa again!

If you’re in the market for bright LEDs, electrostatic plasma balls, quirky lights and more glow in the dark stuff than you can shake a stick at, Tarsam is where you’ll find it all.
Best for: a unique gift for anyone who likes their gadgets bright and flashy. A word of advice though, don’t head in straight after a big meal.

This is a specialist computer store stocking an exclusive range of its own-brand of trusted PCs, laptops and the like for both business and home use.
Best for: Technology that not only acts but also looks the part. The seriously stylish VAIO range of notebooks is a Time Out favourite.

Billed as a mobile phone boutique – this store is for the ridiculously rich only. Prices range from the extreme to the extraordinarily extravagant, for which your mobile is decorated with diamonds, white gold and sapphire crystals.
Best for: An elegant, exclusive gift for that slightly difficult yet special someone in your life. Nothing says ‘I love you’ like diamonds, after all.
Bang & Olufsen

The daddy of sound and vision is worth a browse, even if you know you can’t justify splashing out on any of the top-of-the-range products on offer. They are, however, worth every dirham.
Best for: Kitting out your apartment with the best in home entertainment gear. Your bank account manager won’t thank you, but your ears will.

No prizes for guessing what this little independent shop offers: yep, a wide range of the latest Wi-Fi-enabled gear from well-known brands, namely Toshiba, HP and Fujitsu.
Best for: Surprisingly good value for money. If you know what you’re after, it’s best to head down and see what their ‘best price’ is before hitting the big malls.

Best for: Professional and amateur photographers looking for some of the best gear around, with knowledgeable staff on-hand to answer your snappy questions too.

They have plenty of gadgets and appliances for your home and office, including a good photography range. Check out their regular promotions.
Best for: Electronic value bundles that are exactly that – good value for the average Joes around town. They always have the latest from top brands too, so well worth a visit.
