We try out electromuscular stimulation with exercise at my30minutes on Al Wasl Road, Dubai
The promise Using EMS (Electric Muscle Simulation) technology combined with low intensity exercise, we will get maximum benefits from our workout. One 20 minutes session is equivalent to doing two to four hours in the gym.
Step by step After our special electricity conducting gear is sprayed down with water in key places (biceps, thighs, abdominal area etc) we are strapped in and hooked up to the machine. A little nerve-wracking but we’re informed we won’t feel any vibrations until the device is actually switched on. She explains that she will increase and decrease the frequency in the different places on my body depending on how much I can handle and which area we’re working out at the time. The result Body parts in isolation we handle it like a pro but the once the core kicks in and our whole body is buzzing, the sensation is mentally challenging. We find that we’re a little reluctant to move around as much as we would in a regular exercise session but our instructor explains that it’s completely normal for first-timers to be skeptical in their trial class. The following day we don’t feel much like we did a workout the day before - perhaps due to keeping the intensity of our workout quite low. The only place we’re feeling a difference is on our back which doesn’t often get worked out.
Pros It’s a quick session and the only way to work out your entire body all at the same time. Five minute to put on equipment and the same amount of time to remove. The 20-minute session does actually make you sweat and each room is private meaning you get your own bathroom to shower and change in with fresh towels and deodorant provided.
Cons If you actually like the gym, it’s no replacement for pushing your body to the limit all on your own.
A trial session at my30minutes starts at Dhs250 while a single class is Dhs515 while a regular class is Dhs515; monthly packages are available, with nutritional guidance and advice from a personal trainer. For more information email firstname.lastname@example.org.
