Starting September 20, those who sign up will take part in a six-week challenge, simply doing one workout every seven days to prove they have what it takes to rank highly on the online leaderboard.
But even if you’re not in it to win it on the exercise front, you stand a chance to win in weekly prize draws plus the main prize of Dhs10,000. If that’s not an incentive to get into your trainers and track pants every week until October 16, then we don’t know what is.
The whole initiative is to encourage more United Arab Emirates residents to use fitness as a vehicle to live a healthier lifestyle.
Founder of Fitness Link ME and the head organiser of UAE Fitness Movement, Grant Goes, said about the ongoing event, ‘Each week we release one small basic workout that everybody can do. You can also compete against other people in your facility and from around the UAE.
‘Each Sunday at 9am, we’ll release a workout. The workout will have a video, pictures and a description to give you the guidelines, movement standards and how to complete from the start to finish, the routines.’
It’s not as simple as scribbling down the number of reps or time it takes for you do so the short workouts though. Each facility, which is listed on the website – think Dubai Ladies Club, Fitness First and Tribe Fit – will have a coach to make sure you’re doing everything as you should.
