This time around, the organisers have added new obstacles to the 5kilometre course and upped the stakes with fresh zombies, and a chance to ‘earn more flags’.
Anyone aged 13 and over can sign up to take part in the challenge on October 30 – more than 600 people and 300 ‘zombies’ did last year.
The website states: ‘It is your choice as to which one you want to be. Survivors can run and have a chance of making it though and helping humanity survive. Zombies want to eat their next meal, and their next meal is a Survivor.’
‘Running in waves starting every 15 minutes, the Survivors must navigate their way to safety while going though obstacles and avoiding zombies.’
In order to be successful, Survivors start with three flags and need to finish the run with at least one still attached to them. No biting here, just flag tugging.
Sprinters, it’s not just about how fast you are on your feet though, the obstacle course will have you ‘crawl, wade, climb, jump and use your wits to escape the oncoming horde of Zombies’.
Alternatively, if you choose to be in the zombie group, you will begin the run at either 4pm or 5pm chasing after Survivors who are released every 15 minutes.
Although zombies are known to be slow, you can pay different prices to either be in the sluggish batch or the lot who zoom away towards their prey.
Fast ones fork out Dhs150 and must be 18 years old or up, while the regular horde pays Dhs75 if you’re 13-17 years old or Dhs100 if you’re 18 or over.
For Survivors the cost is Dhs150 if you’re 13-17 years old and Dhs250 for anyone above those ages.
