Time Out tried the full body freezeCRYO in Dubai, which claims to help speed up metabolism, reduce cellulite and alleviate muscle pain
The Promise Make the skin appear improved thanks to reducing cellulite. It’s also said to help speed up metabolism so you could potentially lose weight. Or if you’ve been pushing yourself on the exercise front recently you may benefit as if relieves plain and help decrease inflammation. Step by step We put on white hand mitts which are not for exfoliation as we thought at first. Instead they – along with the long socks we slip on – are to protect our hands and feet from the chilly conditions. Meanwhile our head is safe from the extreme temperature as it pokes out the top of the cocoon. Staff talk to us throughout the process, it goes down to -120 degrees in 20-40 seconds - we also have a friend in the room chatting away to distract us.
Once the cold air stops blowing we’re handed a robe and hop straight onto an exercise bike to help us warm up again.
After a few minutes it’s time go into the facial room where a wand device lightly blows cold air over our skin. It’s only towards the end of the ten minutes that it begins to feel really cold and we can instantly feel our face tightening.
The result We feel invigorated and our face feels firmer. But there’s no clear change in the condition of our skin and obviously no signs that toxins have been flushed and our body has been enriched with nutrients. Pros The blast of cold air only lasts for three minutes and even that feels like half the time. So there isn’t too much suffering involved.
With a briefing from the team, taking blood pressure and filling out the form it will take 30 minutes maximum and so can be done during a lunch break, with time to spare too.
Cons Results aren’t immediate and so it’s hard to see from the get-go whether it actually makes a difference or not. Several sessions are recommended.
