X-perience X-park, Bounce's new parkour assault course
We explore the brand-new, adrenaline-fuelled free-running park in Al Quoz
The opening of X-Park at Bounce Dubai is one of the city’s more interesting and original arrival in recent times.
It’s inspired by parkour, otherwise known as free running, and is intended to be an exciting, authentic, safe and – most importantly – legal place for budding and experienced parkourians alike to practice their art.
Guests at Bounce will be able to experience this new obstacle course for as little as Dhs80 per hour, which also includes access to the rest of Bounce with it. Eighteen wildly diverse and equally as challenging obstacles greet visitors upon their arrival into X-Park, and while it is accessible for learner free runners, the challenge it presents is not to be underestimated.
Global television show Ninja Warrior popularised many of the obstacles players have to overcome, including the spider wall, warped wall and parallel hanging bars. Fans of ‘90s TV phenomenon Gladiators will be familiar with the hanging hoops obstacle, which requires decent upper body strength to propel one’s self between a series of hoops descending from the ceiling.
Other challenges include up and unders - a series of tightly spaced hurdles and barriers – as well as a zip wire, slack line, cargo rope, inclined balance beam, rolling logs and an array of bars and handles conveniently placed to give more advanced players the chance to complete a circuit without barely touching the floor.
The course is now official opening after its unveiling on Wednesday June 7, and it promises an action-packed, adrenaline-fuelled, muscle-achingly good time. Dhs80. Open Sun-Thu noon-midnight; Fri-Sat 9am-midnight (throughout Ramadan). Al Quoz (04 321 1400).
