Romeo and Juliet, is part of the annual Globe Education Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank series, in which actors and practitioners create a vibrant production using their unique experience of working and performing in London’s carefully reconstructed and iconic Shakespeare’s Globe.
Globe Education’s highly creative, fast-moving interpretation of Shakespeare’s play, retains his language and delivers an accessible performance; ideal for anyone interested in seeing a fresh take on the Bard’s work from the famous Shakespeare’s Globe. It is a perfect introduction to Shakespeare for school students and offers a memorable experience for those of all ages who are more familiar with the play.
Established Director, Bill Buckhurst, is well-known at Shakespeare’s Globe where he has directed Hamlet with Dominic Dromgoole and played Antipholus in Comedy of Errors. In Globe Education’s annual series he played Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing (2007 and 2008) and has directed Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
This will be the third time that Globe Education has toured the Middle East, following the success of its 2011 production of Macbeth and The Midsummer Night's Dream in 2012. These shows were acclaimed in the UAE media as "enthralling", "gripping" and a "five star" experience.
