1 BurJuman: With one of the highest concentrations of designer stores in town, a trip to the BurJuman mall could blow your budget to bits. 2 Pak Ghazi Restaurant: This café-style restaurant serves some of the best Pakistani food for unbelievable prices – a plate of biryani costs as little as Dhs12. 04 397 9711 Three minutes walking distance from the station
3 Rock Bottom: Across from the BurJuman, you’ll find the Regent Palace Hotel, with the perennial favourite, Rock Bottom, on the ground floor. It’s crowded every night, thanks to its resident DJ and live band, who pump out the pleasers until its 3am closing time. There’s even an in-house shawarma joint for dancers with the munchies. 04 396 3888 Four minutes walking distance from the station
4 Ohm Records: Tucked behind the Regent Palace you’ll find Ohm Records – a real gem of a place. The staff are incredibly friendly and clued-up, the open decks are free for budding DJs to practise on, cool Lomo cameras nestle on the shelves and there are sumptuous sofas to chill out on. It also happens to be one of the Middle East’s largest vinyl sanctuaries, with an ever-expanding selection of house, hip-hop, techno and trance tunes. There’s no place like Ohm, we say. 04 397 3728 Five minutes walking distance from the station
5 Bateaux Dubai: Head down to the Creek and you’ll find rows of dhows waiting to ferry tourists along the water. The pick of the bunch is the Bateaux Dubai.
