Time Out explores the best things to do in Al Barsha station
THE AL BARSHA METRO STATION IN DUBAI IS NOT OPEN YET. KEEP CHECKING TIME OUT DUBAI FOR MORE DETAILS.
1 Golden Tulip: Sports fans can head to the Locker Room to catch the action on the 50-inch LCD screens, shoot a few on the pool table and munch on some traditional pub dishes. The Tandoor Brasserie brunch is also worth checking out. It doesn’t get packed, though, so bring a big group of friends and tuck into the authenitic aloo matar and shami kebabs. 04 341 7750 Four minutes walking distance from the station
2 Corp Executive Hotel: The outdoor shisha lounge on the balcony at the Corp Hotel is one of Al Barsha’s best-kept secrets. With its comfy orange sofas, dim lighting, pleasant music, varied shisha flavour selection and reasonable pricing, it’s the ideal place to blow out some steam (pun intended). 04 286 8759 Four minutes walking distance from the station
3 Holiday Inn: The Holiday Inn may not scream glamour, but this four-star hotel is a pleasant surprise thanks to two of its tasty offerings. The Royal Buddha’s contemporary decor, including an open kitchen and statue of a Buddha, provides a feast for the eyes and the vast Thai menu provides a feast for the belly. Or Sushi Folie, its colourful sushi bar, is a great place to grab a quick bite thanks to its classic conveyor belt system. 04 323 4333 Four minutes walking distance from the station
4 Wellington International School: The Sharaf DG stop will enable pupils to get to and from Wellington International with ease. This, together with its state-of-the-art, hi-tech equipment including an observatory, climbing wall and TV and radio stations, means the student body of more than 1,800 from ‘over 85 countries’ is only set to increase. 04 348 4999; www.wellingtoninternationalschool.com Ten minutes walking distance from the station
5 Ibis Hotel: If you’re a night owl, head to the Ibis Hotel’s 24-hour bars (although you’ll have to get a taxi back). Casa Latina has live Latin music and Cuban cigars for you to puff on, or there’s Madison, where you can watch sports, play board games, or even read a book from the mini-library. 04 399 6699 Ten minutes walking distance from the station
