Head onto Jumeirah Beach Road, before crossing and making your way onto the sandy tracks and pathways that lead to 21 Street
Duration: 60-90 minutes
How to get there: Park at the north end of Sunset Beach (on the Dubai side of Jumeirah Beach Hotel) or take a taxi. Plenty of buses go along Beach Road – check www.rta.ae for details.
For a cool seaside walk, start down at Sunset Beach or Umm Suqeim park with a paddle along the shore, heading towards the Burj al Arab. Imposing at any time of day, this Dubai icon is particularly impressive at dusk with the sun setting behind it.
Head onto Jumeirah Beach Road, before crossing and making your way onto the sandy tracks and pathways that lead to 21 Street. Continue heading inland towards the Aswaaq supermarket, where we recommend a thirst quencher and a pastry boost at the French Bakery. Suitably sated, dig out your camera again and stop almost immediately as you turn left out of the bakery. You’ll get a fantastic snap of the mosque, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and the Burj all in one frame.
Keep walking north along 26 Street, crossing Al Thanya Road and heading along 34 Street (if you’re green-fingered, check out King Garden Flowers en route). Turn left on Al Manara and weave your way back towards the beach where, after a left turn onto 2C Street, you’ll walk past a boat-builders yard, before arriving back at Umm Suqeim park.
