Where to eat, drink, work out and more in this thriving suburb
There’s so much more to this neighbourhood than a giant mall. We unearth a few hidden gems in one of the most underrated parts of town.
Mall of the Emirates put Al Barsha on the map. When it opened in 2005 it gave millions of visitors a reason to come to the area – the Middle East’s first ski resort, more than 560 shops and a plethora of dining and entertainment options, and it continues to draw millions every year. But if you come to the district for the mall then stay for the eclectic range of shops, cafés, hotels and bars, all tucked away in the surrounding low-rise community, waiting for you to explore. From the recently opened Al Salam Mosque to boutique chocolatiers and a particularly sport-friendly park, Al Barsha has finally come into its own.
