But is a new project set to make that look modest in comparison?
We’ve set eyes on a concept of private submersible yachts that can serve as their own island. Created by Austrian company Migaloo, the super luxury boat homes enable the buyer to do shark feeding from an underwater dining saloon, plus guests could arrive via helicopter if the owner chooses to have a pad attached to the house.
The property seems even more like something that could cater to Dubai’s elite as the website explains pretty much anything can be added to make the home unique such as an outdoor cinema – imagine watching Jaws out there – and gardens.
Five different models are currently available to request and the submarine can be up to 283m in size.
Benefits include high safety, privacy and “comfortable and weather independent submerged travelling especially through rough seas”.
“The UAE has recently built up several very interesting projects, I think for our island design, Dubai is a very interesting market with a lot of potential,” Christian Gumpold, Managing Director told Time Out Dubai. “Also, several of the world’s largest superyachts have owners of the UAE, the Kokomo Ailand would perfectly fit to their lifestyle and their demand for the best quality and newest design.”
