Time Out features the best short film of Dubai you will ever see, including footage from Dream Jump, Burj Khalifa base jump and world record fireworks
Dubai is no stranger to spectacular videos showcasing the majesty of all that we have around us.
From the remarkable architecture to the natural beauty of the desert and all the action-packed events to happen with both as the backdrop, it is a canvas fit for any filmmaker.
But a new 100-second clip appears to have eclipsed them all. The short, shot by Joseph Hutson from Dubai Film, is a glorious cut of some of the most memorable viral videos of the last few years, all spliced together with other iconic events and activations from around the emirate.
Of course, New Year's Eve's world record firework display from 2013 is there, as well as a show of similar magnitude from a year later. There is also the now legendary footage of Vince Reffett base jumping from the top of Burj Khalifa, and the same stuntman flying with Jetman alongside an Emirates A380.
Also featured is the Dream Jump from the top of Princess Tower in Dubai Marina, and an awesome cut of the Breitling Wingwalkers soaring over The Palm in front of Atlantis The Palm.
*WE STRONGLY SUGGEST GOING FULL SCREEN WITH THIS*
You can check out all those videos - with their more than 50 MILLION streams - a little further down the page.
Released really as a showcase for what Dubai Film are capable of, Joseph Hutson's 4K footage used is the work of 12 people, with helicopter pilots, rigging handlers, drone flyers and producers all being credited. So hat tip from Time Out Dubai to Camera Operator Joseph Hutson, Helicopter Pilots Andy Nettleton and Andrew Masterson, Excitor Pilot Nasser Al Neyadi, First AC Joel E Schaeffer, Rigging team Michael Dix, Andy Gribble, and Joel, Drone Pilot Ahmad Al Amlah, Producers: Irene Proimos and Marta Espinosa Gironella Gayton, and Executive Producer Omar Obaid Eisa.
As the caption on the You Tube link itself says: "We are able to offer the greatest amount of options when it comes to shooting from the air from anyone in the region. Whether it is full-size helicopter solutions or scaling down in size to the RC Drones, [Dubai Film] have the right tools for whatever the job.
"The above reel is compiled from some of Joseph Hutson's aerial operation over the last five years in Dubai with the Shotover P1, Shotover K1, Shotover F1, Cineflex Ultra, Inspire 1, and even some handheld."
'Believe' by Hi-Finesse is, fittingly, the soundtrack.
So how much does something like this cost? Well Time Out barely understood the list of equipment when we first saw it, let alone have any idea how much one of the camera would set us back. So using official product websites, we worked out the sum total of all the tools Joseph outlines is a whopping Dhs1,150,000, and that doesn't include the helicopter rental!
