Time Out has a handy guide to Arabian Ranches, the affluent residential community in Dubai. Discover the restaurants, shops, golf and things to do
So what’s Arabian Ranches? And where is it? It’s a residential community, with more than 4,000 villas. If you’re looking to live close to the theme parks, you’re in luck. It’s a little way out in the desert, on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, and just down the road from both Global Village and the newly opened IMG Worlds of Adventure.
Close to the theme parks is great! But is there anything to do in Arabian Ranches itself? Yes, you can do a lot without even leaving your gated community. There are swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, and there’s even a skate park if you fancy yourself as the next Tony Hawk. If you want to take a stroll, there are paths winding through Arabian Ranches, linking the different neighbourhoods and circling around the lakes.
I’m sure you’d have to leave to go shopping, though… Actually, you don’t. Arabian Ranches even has its own little shopping mall, which has a Géant supermarket, a Burger King, a Costa Coffee and more. It also has a school – Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches – a Mediclinic and restaurants at the Golf Club. So if you want, you really don’t ever have to leave…
A golf club? You didn’t mention that before. We were getting round to it, don’t worry. The Golf Club is right in the centre of Arabian Ranches, meaning plenty of villas overlook the 18-hole championship course and driving range. The Club House features a hotel, restaurants and bars including Maison Mathis and Birdies Sports Lounge.
Sounds like it’s in the middle of nowhere and yet is the centre of everything. What else is nearby? Just up the road, you’ll find Arabian Ranches II, an expansion that promises to be bigger and better – it’s still being built. The Ranches Souk is already open, and shops within it include Carrefour, Virgin Megastore and The Body Shop. Also close by (it’s just over the road) is the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club, where there’s a spa and restaurants as well as horse riding facilities.
Only at Arabian Ranches The Academy You can hone your skills – or learn some – at The Academy at Arabian Ranches Golf Club. The PGA-qualified professionals will coach you out on the course and driving range, or inside their high-tech indoor golf course simulator.
