The Marina has taken on the title of ‘new Dubai’, the central area to be and be seen for Dubai’s newest residents and tourists alike. The cooler months allow exploration of the waters themselves along the Marina Walk, but the warmer season is just as pleasant with plenty of stores and eateries to get lost in.

1 Rivoli: Right next to the Marina metro station, Rivoli’s textile store is the place to go if you’re choosing to be your own designer. With a wide range of unstitched pieces for men and women, the store offers a variety of options for every occasion. And, in classic Dubai style, it stocks only the best brands and the most luxurious items. It simply wouldn’t be right for this city if it didn’t.

2 Papa John’s: Papa John’s boasts about having the best pizza in town, and the claim isn’t completely ridiculous. The restaurant has plenty to offer with its variations in pizza toppings and delicious bases. Add in a good ambience and comfortable seating and we have a winner. Unfortunately, the place is currently blocked by construction, but, as they say, ‘that’s Dubai’.

3 Dubai Marina Mall: The place to shop if you live the area. The mall doesn’t hugely impress, with the same stores available at every other mall in Dubai (too many to count). But, nonetheless, it’s the hub of the area and is a useful stop for a lazy afternoon during the warmer months.

4 Java U: A Canadian café, Java U at the Marina is one of the first branches of this little bistro outside of North America. The coffee’s meant to be Canada’s finest, imported all the way from North America. The bistro has a varied menu, with the usual mix of teas, coffees and cold drinks, but also matches things you’d never think to put together. With a few titbits to munch on and the cosy atmosphere of a coffeehouse, it’s nothing extraordinary but likeable nonetheless.

5 Desire Beauty Salon: This place apparently offers it all. The staff can do your hair, they can do your nails, and give you a massage and throw in a Moroccan bath (if you’re a woman). It is just another salon, but it remains one of the few in the area, and is on the reasonable side. It’s nice to get a haircut without feeling like you’ve just given up half your pay cheque.

6 Marina: Up to 12 minutes from the Jumeirah Lake Station the most vital stop to include is of course the Dubai Marina. Offering quite the view the Marina is great during the cooler winter months and provides a huge mix of options to choose from for dining, shopping, and dancing. A mix of families, lovey dovey couples and the occasional lone ranger, spending an evening at the Marina has become one of Dubai’s must-dos, no matter whether you’re a resident or a tourist. And make sure your kids splash in the fountains!

7 Marina Yacht club: We’ve been extremely impressed by this venue since it opened earlier this year. While it’s chiefly a place to keep boats (expensive shiny ones at that), non-members can feast on seafood at the Aquara terrace, or lunch at their café-bistro. It’s also becoming a popular evening hang out, thanks to its location: it’s the only licensed venue at that Sheikh Zayed Road end of the Marina. Stop by between 6pm-7.30pm when there’s a two-for-one happy hour deal. Sundowners on the terrace? Yes please.

8 Scoosh Juice Bar: Right next to Rectangle Interiors this juice bar is not just a juice bar, but then again they never are, are they? More of a quick sit down café with the usual salads, sandwiches, juices and hot beverages this stop isn’t really one to sing home about, but, still good enough to point out.

9 KA International (Al Tayeb Furniture and Decoration): If you’re not looking to hire someone to do all the work then this is where you should go. Furniture and decorations of all shapes and sizes are up for exploration.

I went to JAVA U cafe next to marina mall and I love it. It is the best place to bring friends for lunch or dinner in a cosy atmosphere....the cold coffee mixes are a blast and the wrapers are a must try...chicken or steak/mushrooms are the best on the main course.....carrot cake is finger licking good

Re: Jave U Canada's finest coffee? Imported all the way from North America? Coffee does not grow anywhere in North America.
