Think you can’t see a moon indoors? In Dubai you can. Head to The Dubai Mall later this month to encounter a massive seven-metre wide moon.
The installation, entitled “Museum of the Moon” will be revealed on Friday November 30.
A touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram, Museum of the Moon has previously been displayed across the US including in New York, and in Europe including in London and Bristol. And Dubai’s residents will be thrilled it’s making its Middle Eastern debut at The Dubai Mall.
The replica has been created using NASA imagery, to allow Dubai to admire the beauty of moon. It will be on display in Souk Atrium for shoppers to admire until Sunday January 7, before it moves the Woolwich in London. It will then head to France and Belfast.
The moon is internally illuminated, with each centimetre of the artwork representing 5km of the actual moon – with an area set up for visitors to stop, relax and to gaze up at the moon.
Budding astronomers and astronauts are certain to love this new display. Put Friday November 30 in your diary, this is one you don’t want to miss.
