The region’s biggest comic book show is coming back for another year and is promising to be “bigger, bolder and better” than ever before.
Taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from Thursday April 5 to Saturday 7, MEFCC has already confirmed a range of stars from the comic book, movie and fantasy worlds – and is also bringing a range of cool new events, pop-ups and attractions with it.
Here are some of the other stars who are taking part.
Doctor Who fans will know her as the girl who waited – the red-headed companion to Matt Smith’s Doctor, Karen Gillan. Since her years spent adventuring in the TARDIS, Gillan has gone on to star in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 as Nebula, as well as Marvel’s Infinity War and even alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Jumanji: Welcome To the Jungle.
Gillan will be joined by a man known to many as Doctor “Bones” McCoy in the latest trilogy of Star Trek movies, Karl Urban. Urban has appeared in some of the biggest movie franchises around, including, of course, Star Trek, as well as the titular Judge in 2012’s Dredd, plus roles in Doom, the Riddick series, Thor: Ragnarok and the Lord of the Rings series.
For most, if not all, comic book fans, Adam Kubert is a name that stands out. That’s because he’s one of the industry’s most influential and important artists, having had runs on Woverine, The Incredible Hulk, Ultimate X-Men, and, most recently, Spectacular Spider-Man. Kubert will be in town to meet fans, sketch and sign autographs for fans.
Finally, ’90s kids will look back fondly at the many hours spent sat in front of fat, square TVs watching the Power Rangers mighty morph their way to saving the world once again. Jason David Frank, also known as Tommy Oliver, also known as the Green Ranger, is here to meet fans and talk about his time spent across the franchise. In total, Frank was involved with the series for more than a decade, so fans of Power Rangers will be in for a treat.
Aside from the names glittering across the line-up, there’s also going to be a huge involvement from Netflix. Expect a bunch of stunts and promotions giving you a heads up of their latest series, which is being kept a closely guarded secret for now.
It’s all lining up to be another big year at MEFCC, and this is just the start – more info will be revealed soon. Tickets start from Dhs110 for a one-day pass and Dhs250 for the weekend.
