Cirque du Soleil live in Dubai September 2016
Cirque du Soleil, the world's most iconic live production, is coming back to Dubai.

Set to take over the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, the company's signature show, Varekai, promises to deliver a state-of-the-art performance of acrobatics, dance and circus-like acts.

The show, running from September 16 to 24, is the first in the UAE for three years, and has earned rave reviews around the globe.

Translated as 'Wherever' in the Romany language, Varekai says it 'pays tribute to the spirit and art of the circus tradition'. According to a recent review, 'the acrobatic feats provoke a nailbiting awe and the clowning is mostly funny'.

While rich in wow factor, Varekai also leans heavily on the storytelling element that has made Cirque the leader of this sort of entertainment since it was launched more than 30 years ago. To date, more than 1,300 artists have represented the group, from around 50 countries, and a total audience in excess of 160 million has been reached.

Among the awesome stunts that form part of the show, are*:
- The Icarian Games: acrobats tossing each other about while in impossibly contorted positions.
- Aerial straps: a pair of acrobats swinging and sailing above the stage and audience in the style of trapeze artists.
- Cane balancing: a young woman contorting her torso into extreme angles while balanced on a series of canes using her feet and hands.
- Russian swings: acrobats vaulting off the swings, spinning and twirling like Olympic platform divers.

Tickets will be on sale exclusively from www.tixbox.com.
