Huge light show accompanying classic performance atop Jebel Jais this October
Get ready for a musical experience like nothing before, because Ras Al Khaimah is putting on the highest concert in the country this October.
Taking classical music to new heights, quite literally, is a one-off event on Friday October 27 showcasing Vivaldianno – City of Mirrors. It’s promising to be a visual spectacle as well as an aural one, with the baroque masterpiece being paired with a 3D light show.
The show will be taking place on a specially constructed mountain stage, some 1,600 metres above sea level. A large orchestra will cover classical and art-rock instrument sections, with the show featuring large-format projections in front of and behind the performance areas. A complex light design will help create a 3D experience of famous compositions including The Four Seasons.
“We are retaining the original score while adding modern instruments the way Antonio [Vivaldi] himself might have included them,” says show director Michal Dvořák, an award-winning Czech musician and film composer. “The show strives to enforce and emphasise the original music in a contemporary means of expression.”
Tickets for the event start at Dhs300, available through Virgin Tickets and Platinum List. If you’re planning on making a stay of it, head to Hilton Garden Inn, Ras Al Khaimah, for a 20 percent discount on standard rooms for show-goers between Thursday October 26 and Saturday 28.
So if heading to Fiesta De Los Muertos for Gorillaz, Stormzy, Carly Rae Jepsen and co isn’t your thing, head up to Ras Al Khaimah instead, for this one-off masterpiece of a legendary composition.
