Dubai Marina and JBR has seen a flurry of high-profile nightlife openings recently, much to the delight of residents in the area. Societe used to be one of the area’s top places to head at the end of a great night out, for one last all-out boogie. However, nowadays a lot of the oomph, gusto and mass appeal this Dubai Marina club once seems to have dissipated, despite a revamp this year.
Thanks to that the club is intimate and nicely designed.
We arrive at the long-standing party hotspot at about midnight on a Thursday, when the town’s bars are heaving. Societe is not.
Instead, a medium-sized group of awkward-looking office workers occupy the dancefloor. The party isn’t in full flow, so if you want to catch this place at it’s height, we’d recommend holding out until the early hours. The DJ spins singalong hit after singalong hit, and every song feels like that classic, arm-in-arm last song of the night.
House drinks are reasonably priced, and there are promotions on short drinks all night long.
If you love singing your heart out, there’s fun to be had, but with competition in the area now fierce, there are livelier and more current clubs in this part of town that you’re better off heading to instead.
The bottom line Quieter times for a once heaving club.
