The outdoor area is the main attraction here, with the pristine all-white restaurant being abandoned by many this winter in favour of sitting under the stars.
Thankfully there are a few large fans conveniently positioned to keep guests cool on hotter nights. Failing that, there’s a shallow pool to dip your toes in while listening to funky beats, which is handy for the young guests still wearing swimwear from a day at the beach club.
Staff are generous, beyond the small bowl of complimentary nuts provided, and suggest bringing a selection of every grape type from one of the menus to help us decide. However, we almost ditch Cove Beach when we’re initially presented with a menu priced by the carafe… until we enquire per glass. Staff can be inattentive though and fail to check in at all during our visit to see if we want another drink, and even present us with the bill before we have asked for it.
While drinks can be affordable if you go for the bar’s own brand at Dhs60 each, you may have to be more considerate about exploring a different name, as there’s a big leap in price.
The bottom line There are better drinks deals around, but perfect for a chilled, trendy vibe.
