Dubai’s sports bars are typically thick with smoke and the lively din of supporters. Not so at Jimmy Wickets. Perhaps because it’s a little hidden on the mezzanine floor of the Warwick Hotel, not far from popular sports haunt McGettigan’s DWTC. Or maybe it’s because you can’t smoke here and have to head downstairs, outside of the hotel, that puts people off visiting. The bar is kitted out as good as any, with comfy sofas, high stools, memorabilia decorating the walls and, most importantly of all for a sports bar, TVs showing the various games of the day. The daily happy hour is generous, and there’s a menu of bar food to see you through the game – the cheeseburger (with brie) is a must. If you want to catch a match quietly, this is the place to do it. But if you want atmosphere, that pub up the road might be a safer bet.
