There aren’t many things to dislike about this funky hangout in the heart of DIFC.
From the friendly service to the laid-back ambience to the great food, fault is certainly hard to find here. And with the addition of a Monday music night, Live @ Dusty’s, this place just got a whole lot cooler.
The house band, Chronicles of Khan, are a well-oiled machine who play a four-hour set split up into short bursts. They tackle the classics with gusto, with wonderful renditions of the likes of The Doors, The Beatles and Radiohead.
And the guys clearly love to bring a certain touch of tongue-in-cheekiness to the set, with stripped down hip-hop in the shape of Blackstreet’s No Diggity and several “cheesy” numbers that bring out their humorous, self-deprecating side. These guys clearly enjoy playing together and the crowd seem to really connect with their obvious enthusiasm.
If you arrive at Dusty’s at 6pm, when the band come on, you’ll also catch happy hour, which runs until 8pm. The food is also worth the visit, with bar bites if you only fancy a snack, and a solid menu of bigger dishes that includes some cracking black cod and delightful lamb chops.
The team have also revamped the Friday brunch offering, which is based upon the comedy classic Airplane!. Surely you can’t be serious? We are serious and don’t call us Shirley.
The bottom line Dusty’s cool new “Live @” night is music to our ears.
