Garden is one of three new venues that have recently opened up in JW Marriott Marquis. Serving Peruvian food and drinks, it is, as its name suggests, verdant and vibrant –yet only partially outdoors.
On the Saturday evening that we visit, it’s pretty dead, but the staff are friendly and enthusiastic.
The venue’s décor combines Arabic style with Peruvian patterns and a spa-like water feature runs that through the middle. The outdoor extension has a completely different vibe, resembling a trendy British rooftop garden with fake grass, whitewash benches and cute flowers in jars. The décor may be having an identity crisis, but the menu is pure Peru. Signature mixed drinks arrive in vintage-style glasses, having been assembled attentively (two take about ten minutes to arrive, but are worth the wait) by mixologists. Pop in on a Wednesday for buy one, get one free deals on Peruvian distilled drinks from 7pm-midnight.
This bar is still a new kid on the Business Bay block, but if you want an al fresco drink with an eclectic vibe, this is the Garden for you.
The bottom line Colourful and eclectic spot with an inviting terrace and quality food and drink.
