Souk Al Bahar doesn’t seem the most likely location for a live music lounge, and Muze stands out amid the touristy restaurants with their views of The Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa.
This isn’t a venue offering that picture-postcard Downtown scenery. Instead, Muze is the place for excellent live music from an eclectic array of performers.
The lounge itself is a cool place to spend time, even before the music starts up. With its slightly sparse, industrial décor interspersed with multicoloured seating around high tables and comfier cushioned booth seating, it’s a striking venue.
But you probably won’t notice this during its most popular nights, when the bar is heaving with a lively crowd listening to energetic performances. It’s a particularly popular venue on Thursdays for the Cassette Night, with a selection of mixes from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. A recent addition to the bill is Lebanese singer-songwriter Rouba, who performs with her band for Jazz and Soul night on Wednesdays.
Brought to Dubai from Lebanon, with Cuban influence, this is something completely different for Souk Al Bahar. And while it may seem like an odd fit – and quite expensive if you plan on having a few drinks – it’s definitely worth checking out for the excellent live music and buzzing atmosphere.
The bottom line An eclectic live music venue with plenty of energy.
