When this popular Mexican joint spawned an amigo in Downtown Dubai, it left many wondering how the owners would recreate the charm of the original.
But what they have done is bring a novel twist to an already successful product, this time at a fantastic spot in the shadows of the Burj Khalifa.
We’d heard about the superb guacamole, lovingly prepared at your table, and are delighted when it hits the mark. Fantastically fresh, it’s as if the fruit has ripened that instant, just so we can dip in the oven-hot nachos. If that simple-but-effective appetiser is anything to go by, we know we’re in for a treat and the mains don’t disappoint.
One of the specials when we pay a visit is the mariscada platter. This well-thought-out combination of langoustine, salmon, prawns, scallops and a seafood empanada is perfectly cooked and ideal for sharing, unless you have an appetite the size of Chihuahua (the state, not the dog).
Loca 2.0 has a choice of four equally tempting burritos on offer. We plump for the carne asada (beef tenderloin, with ranchero sauce and guacamole) and immediately feel smug about our decision – as well as the one to sit outside.
The bottom line Magical Mexican grub at one of the best seats in Downtown.
