So far new DIFC restaurant Laluz has been making waves for its innovative and refreshing take on Spanish food. Chef Alain Devahive is an alumni of Barcelona’s brilliant elBulli and has brought many of the maverick’s culinary tricks with him to Dubai.
However, the sleek restaurant also has a pretty cool bar inside. It’s enough of a separate space to the dining room that it’s perfectly fine to rock up for a few drinks without moving on to food (although we strongly recommend it), whether you find a seat at the central bar or take a place at a table in the sunken seating area.
The vibe is very relaxed, the super-smart waiting staff will be on hand to offer you recommendations from the mixed drinks menu, which almost shows as much invention as the food menu, and as you’d expect from a Spanish restaurant, there’s also a good selection of grape and some hops on offer, too. If you do visit, order the bikini sandwich, from a fantastic selection of bar bites this is our favourite, though all are good.
It’s cool, contemporary and won’t break the bank – what’s not to like?
The bottom line For pre- or post-dinner drinks this is an absolute no-brainer.
