We should be in our seats in the dining room, eating dinner by now, but we’re not. We’re standing at the bar, where we’ve been for a while. Chatting and feeling comfortable. The atmosphere is buzzing, the staff are charming and the music (a mix of modern and traditional French tunes) is toe-tappingly good.
La Môme is primarily a restaurant (and a good one at that, if you remember our restaurant review a few weeks back), but as we’re discovering, it’s also a place we’d be happy to recommend (and come back to) for drinks alone. And it seems we’re not the only ones, as the bar area is packed.
It helps that you reach the bar as you step out of the lifts on the 49th floor of the Nassima Royal Hotel, enticing you with its proximity as well as its vibe. And there’s also the view that comes with the venue’s lofty position – from the window you can see a whole load of Dubai, from the low-rise Jumeirah coastline to the skyscrapers of Downtown and DIFC.
The decor is in keeping with the slightly retro theme. It’s a touch Parisian, a touch modem and has a warm, welcoming feel.
This is one restaurant bar we don’t mind saying “oui” to.
The Bottom Line Don’t think of it as just a restaurant bar.
