Laguna Lounge is spread out over two levels of decking on the beach at Sofitel The Palm. Everything in the bar is decorated in shades of white and a cool light blue. It’s almost completely surrounded by palm trees, too, although thankfully they don’t obscure the view over the water and out to the rest of the Palm and the Dubai skyline off in the distance.
Despite the massive speakers, the music, thankfully, isn’t too loud. You can still hold a conversation, or just sit back and relax if that’s all you want to do. That’s not to say the music’s bad – the DJs mixes away by the entrance, and on our visit, plays everything from Michael Jackson’s Thriller to a dance-y remix of New York, New York by Frank Sinatra.
There are a few stools by the bar, but unless the area is packed there really is no point sitting there, because the big comfy armchairs are far more appealing. If you fancy something a bit more grand, you can opt for the cabanas with thatched roofs, which are raised above the rest of the bar.
There are parasols dotted around to provide some shade during the day, and if you’re there during these cooler nights and you get a little chilly, the staff will wheel out a patio heater.
Drinks are inventive here and there’s a selection of mixed beverages that are wholly unique to Laguna Lounge.
The overall vibe at this beachside spot is pretty chilled out and relaxed – it’s certainly not the place to head to if you’re after a full-on party.
Just lounge around and enjoy the views. The Bottom Line Relaxed new beach bar boasting some impressive views.
