We’ve long been fans of Downtown sports bar Nezesaussi, named for its New Zealand, South African and Australian leanings and loved for the huge range of events and matches it screens on any given day. That being said, its younger sister, now open at The Address Dubai Marina, could soon outrank it in our affections. Stowed away on the hotel’s fourth floor, Nezesaussi’s low-key entrance belies the sprawling bar-restaurant within. You’d be forgiven for completely forgetting – and then outright refuting – that once perennially packed Marina nightspot Blends used to occupy this very same space. (Though those who remember that previous incarnation will surely agree things have taken a distinct turn for the better.).
No more a space for dancing around handbags, the new venue is home to two pool tables, a foosball table, one giant screen – devoted to the big game of the day – dominating the back wall, and numerous others mounted over almost every table (it has 23 in total). You barely need to swivel 45 degrees to fill your face with sport.
There’s also plenty to fill your face with on the menu, and fans of the Al Manzil original will be pleased to see a number of familiar dishes on the page, including Nezesaussi’s signature burger and steak pie.
Service is friendly and deeply keen to please – with the bar having only been open since the very end of 2016, many of the staff seem keen to elicit feedback on what they and the venue can do to improve your experience. And, other than sack your team’s manager, it’s hard to come up with anything.
Prices, too, are keen, aided by a nightly happy hour and various deals throughout the week, from Men’s Night on Sundays (three drinks and food for Dhs149) to Saturday roasts (Dhs99, or Dhs179 with three house drinks) via Wednesday’s Ribs & Hops night (ribs and two drinks for Dhs149).
Great setting, great value and great service – the new Nezesaussi looks set for a strong opening season.
The bottom line Dubai Marina’s new must-try.
