Set high up on the 72nd floor of the JW Marriott Marquis, Morah has made quite the impact on the city’s culinary scene since its arrival from Canada last year.
When we last visited, for dinner, we were blown away by the food – exquisite Mediterranean flavours and exciting, interesting dishes.
The food was so “wow” that we didn’t mind the lack of fellow diners and, therefore, atmosphere. However, the same doesn’t ring true when visiting the upscale venue for its bar.
We’re here for a pre-dinner drink, though, and therefore not expecting a buzzing party vibe.
The bar area is small and rather old-fashioned, which we like, so we draw up a stool and peruse the menu.
Similar to the food equivalent, the drinks menu hosts plenty of unusual ingredients.
Mixed beverages can be prepared in a teapot to share, which makes for something a little bit different, too.
The views are stunning – Morah boasts huge floor-to-ceiling windows and a 360-degree panoramic view across the city – making it a great place to take visitors to, if they’re keen on a quiet drink and a catch-up. The bottom line Not a nightlife destination in itself.
