Not so long ago this venue was called Oak n Barrel. It was a pretty authentic take on a good old proper English pub, it had decent happy hour deals, showed live sport and was reasonably busy with people living in the Al Barsha locale. Now, in its place stands Sherlock’s Pub, which is a pretty authentic take on a good old proper English pub, and you can probably guess the rest. Apart from the signage and a few knick-knacks dotted around the place, not much has changed.
If you’re a sports fan there are better places in the area. If you’re after deals, there are venues that will save you more money nearby. If it’s atmosphere you’re after, yes, you guessed it, you might want to look elsewhere, too.
That’s not to say Sherlock’s is a lost cause. In fact, if you’re after a quiet drink on your own or with a pal, it’s perfectly fine. But we can’t really be more generous than that.
Draught hops vary wildly in quality. The choices are standard for the city’s pubs, but if you want something fresh, stick to something you know will be popular. This isn’t really a pub to be extravagant in.
Hopefully the next revamp will inject something new.
The bottom line There are better options in the area.
