Tucked away in the Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek, this bar felt old and staid, with its ubiquitous brown furniture and flat atmosphere. But it has been given a refresh, just in time for winter.
The theme now is in-your-face sports bar, with memorabilia on the walls including old bowling alley signs and photographs of sporting greats, including Muhammad Ali.
Tables just big enough for a couple of beers and snacks are flanked by comfy high-backed armchairs, and they face the screens so you and your buddy can catch the game (though TVs are dotted around the room, too).
The menu is small and has all the typical meals you’d expect – a huge, juicy burger that goes down a treat, deep-fried bites including chicken nuggets, fish fingers and calamari, and lighter options such as salads. There are board games, too, so you could lounge here for hours.
It feels quite masculine, but outside, with its stripped-back rustic furniture and pops of colour from streaks of paint on the tables and cushions, feels a lot more welcoming to all.
A pint will set you back Dhs45, and a mixed drink a more reasonable Dhs42.
We look forward to returning as the weather grows cooler.
The bottom line One for sports fans and al fresco drinks.
