Let it be said, Lebanon has a cracking nightlife scene, and the arrival of 961LB at Dubai’s Al Seef neighbourhood is a cracking import.
Amid the bustling Meraas Creekside destination, head to this trendy bar for its vibrant atmosphere, broad mixed drinks menu, regular live music and the surprisingly varied food menu (think mezze, grills, sushi, sandwiches, pizzas and more). A bar which, it must be said, was shortlisted as one of the best new nightlife venues in the city at the Time Out Dubai Music & Nightlife Awards in March.
After a (somewhat) nervy and confined lift ride to the first floor from the ground level entrance, we arrive at a bar with some funky tunes spinning out, a lively post-work crowd and some immediately attentive staff.
It’s not heaving, but it’s busy enough to carry a vibe, and there’s a constant buzz of chatter that’s welcoming and enjoyable.
At one end of the bar is a stage for live performances, which happen regularly, and an impressive screen full of striking visual effects when the music cranks up a notch later on in the evening.
Take your time perusing the aforementioned mixed drinks menu because there are nearly 50 different variations on classic drinks you can try.
It’s the terrace area that steals the show. In cooler weather it’s the ideal place to unwind, as you’re greeted with a panoramic view out over Dubai Creek and the old town, with hardly a skyscraper in sight. Inside, however is where the party is in summer, so go enjoy the vibes.
With a generous happy hour on selected drinks (which cost us less than Dhs20 a pop), it’s a great value night out in a cool location. We’re itching to get our next visit in already.
The bottom line A superb addition to the Old Dubai scene.
