An archway next to the President Hotel proudly displays the bar’s name, but head down the alleyway and you’ll start to think it doesn’t actually exist. The first door on your right isn’t Cowboys. The non-descript second door on the right has a sign that simply says ‘push’. This is Cowboys.
On arrival, it’s hard to form a first impression due to the darkness. Make sure you watch out for the small staircase descending into the gloom. But once safely in the bar area, you’ll find it’s actually quite cosy. Tables line the wall, leading into shadowy corners, and three TVs beam eclectic channels. A pool table takes centre stage, and seems popular with regulars.
Best of all, though, are the prices, especially for hops. Pints come in at under Dhs30, and pitchers for less than Dhs100. Grape by the glass is well priced, too, as are the hair-raising mixed beverages. This certainly isn’t the place for a lively gathering with friends, but as a hideaway for a few drinks, give Cowboys a try.
The bottom line
By no means flash, this is a place for a relaxed drink in the dark, not a party. Cowboys Sports Bar
