We’re used to our sports bars being a little rough around the edges. Not quite your spit and sawdust dives, but venues with just the vaguest hint of post-match sweat and tears. So when we arrive at Bridges, we’re quite taken aback by how unsullied it is.
The Fairmont Dubai hangout is certainly a pleasant place to watch a match without having to crane your neck to see past the burly guy in front who can’t keep still. Its staff are certainly on the ball and will engage in some friendly chat as you settle down at the bar to watch the game you’ve visited for.
It’s hard to find fault with most of what’s on offer here, and the food menu is replete with pub grub staples. However, it’s also hard to tell whether or not the sports theme was a bit of an afterthought, given the lack of a pool table and the curious presence of a canvas print of Lance Armstrong.
We can think of a few ways to enhance Bridges, but if you like cheering for (or politely applauding) your team in a very civilised venue, you’ll love this place.
Just ignore Lance, okay.
The Bottom Line Decent spot, but it’s just a little low on atmosphere
