This new lounge bar (which, uncannily, is on the ninth floor of the Fairmont Hotel, right opposite the spa) is a welcome addition to the local scene, and will be particularly handy in winter thanks to a lovely rooftop pool terrace that’s all about shisha.
The space used to be a Japanese restaurant, and is fittingly design-led with white geometric walls, but the menu now has a Middle Eastern feel. The Arabic mezze tapas are a nice concept, with high-end fattoush rolls and the like, although we found ourselves most enjoying the french fries – typical. Service can be a little haphazard, but we think that might improve with time: the bar staff are friendly and very sincere.
The bar’s biggest draw is that it offers a ladies’ night on Fridays – one of the few options in town to do so. Groups of two friends will get three fashion-based beverages, which we found almost too sweet. The best option is to arrive with four or more mates, as you’ll get to mix bespoke drinks to your taste. The place was fairly quiet on our visit, but as word of mouth spreads we’re expecting crowds.
