For any budding sommelier or wine enthusiast talking about a drink and the experience surrounding its consumption is part of the pleasure.

We look at some of the city’s best cellars and create the Time Out wine route.

Vintage: Start your route with a quiet glass of vino and a hearty cheese fondue at Wafi’s dedicated wine spot. Arrive early for a comfy seat or make do with perching on a stool.

Cin Cin: Weave your way from Wafi up Sheikh Zayed Road to The Fairmont and head up to the jewel in its slick crown. Cin Cin is not just a wine bar, the cocktails are pretty impressive too, but it does serve some of the best grapes in Dubai making it the perfect second stop on our wine route.

Oscar’s Vine Society: Next stop, Oscar’s in the Crowne Plaza. Squirreled away in the bowels of this sometimes uninspiring spot is Dubai’s quaintest wine emporium. Moody lighting and a cobbled courtyard feel make a couple of hours here feel like a world away from Dubai. Oscar’s was the proud winner of Time Out’s 2008 award for best wine bar.

The Agency: Finally, swing across to Emirates Towers to end your evening of grape fancying at one of Dubai’s swankiest spots. The older crowd ensure the atmosphere complements those who are happy to pay a bit more for a nice tipple so it’s worth the investment.
