McGettigan's to open at Madinat Jumeirah this summer
Time Out has news of new bars in Dubai with McGettigan's to open at Madinat Jumeirah this summer, replacing Frioul, close to the new Fort Island
A new McGettigan's bar is to open at Souk Madinat Jumeirah this summer.
The Irish bar will be situated at the site currently occupied by Frioul restaurant – formerly known as Jambase. The French eatery will close its doors to the public on Friday May 13 and the space will reopen as McGettigan's during the summer months.
The popular Irish chain currently have venues located at the Bonnington Hotel in Jumeirah Lakes Towers, at Dubai World Trade Centre, and Dubai International Airport and are also set to launch a new bar at Hilton JBR Hotel on The Walk, JBR in the coming months.
“Madinat Jumeirah is one of the most prestigious and visited locations in Dubai and opening a McGettigan's at this site is an extremely proud moment for us," said the man behind the whole operation, Dennis McGettigan. “We feel we can bring a different style of dining and nightlife experience to the Madinat which will complement the existing offering of top quality bars and restaurants already available and further enhance the experience of Madinat visitors.”
Located beneath Pacha Ibiza Dubai, the site itself is an impressive size and boasts a waterfront terrace with views of the Burj Al Arab. The bar promises to offer all of the key elements that McGettigan’s has become known for in the city – live music, comedy gigs, sports coverage and top class pub grub.
Aesthetically, the new venue will look a lot like the New York outlet (pictured).
Many of Ireland’s top musicians, bands and comedians are flown into Dubai to perform live in a series of once off gigs throughout the year across its UAE venues. Acts such as The Coronas, Aslan, Paul Brady and Hermitage Green have all been over to perform in McGettigan’s JLT. Local comedy show The Laughter Factory are also hosted regularly at The Baggot, a dedicated live entertainment venue situated within McGettigan’s JLT.
Irish comedian Jason Byrne will take to the stage on Thursday April 21 and Friday April 22 for a live stand-up gig at The Baggot, McGettigan’s JLT branch, with rising Irish pop/rock band, Walking on Cars performing on Thursday April 28.
There are currently five McGettigan's bars in operation across the UAE, at JLT, DWTC, Dubai Airport, Al Raha Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi and Fujairah Tennis Club.
