Best for: Shisha and skyline views The main attraction of this Bur Dubai rooftop pool bar is the view of the Downtown skyline. Food and drink service is friendly and swift, and the modern white decor is prettily lit up with coloured lights once the sun goes down. Most of the punters seem to be staying in the hotel, but this is a good spot for reasonably priced mixed drinks, shisha and Asian bar food snacks like the spicy paneer satay.
Best for: The connoisseur Boasting spectacular views and slick décor, this rooftop lounge wows. The bar is a huge white orb where staff create exotic mixtures. Even the bar snacks are sophisticated – you get skewers of pineapple dusted with chilli powder.
Best for: A lively night out A winner of the Time Out Dubai Music & Nightlife Award for Best Club this year, this bar deserves a spot on our list. With unspoilt views of Dubai’s iconic skyline, this plush club is truly on another level. With a new sound and light system, acrobatic dancers and a roster of international DJs, White Dubai should be visited at least once for a memorable night out.
This bar, on the 35th floor of the Hilton on JBR has two terraces as well as an indoor dining room and seating area. But, really, anyone who comes here and sits inside needs to have a long hard think about what they've done. The vista is one of the most spectacular in this part of Dubai, with amazing views of the Palm Jumeirah, JBR and the long stretch of beach. As for the bar itself, it’s all cool blues and whites, with comfortable lounge-style seating. There's a good menu of mixed beverages and a decent selection of hops. It also is home to great happy hour and ladies' nights for bargain hunters. Definitely one to check out in JBR.
One of the Media City Radisson’s two rooftop bars, established Tamanya has recently been creating a fresh buzz thanks to some hot new promoters moving in. Check out the eclectic beats being served up by Dust and Electric Days.
The space which was once (the Chinese bar) Red Lounge has now been incorporated into (the Japanese restaurant) Tomo – but no matter, this venue has kept the fantastic outdoor terrace open to drinkers, so still qualifies for this list. Expect some of the best views in town.
The open-air bar and lounge overlooks Downtown Dubai and is located on the 43rd floor of Four Points by Sheraton. Platters include a selection of dishes such as fried blue cheese and risotto balls and grilled beef skewers. Ladies can enjoy two free drinks every Tuesday from 9pm until midnight.
Pass through the mazy carpark and take the lift to the 27th floor of the Oberoi for a slice of Beirut cool. The rooftop terrace at Iris is undoubtedly one of the city’s trendiest spots. One where good music, mixed drinks and a laid-back crowd make a night out feel like discovering an oasis of hipster euphoria in Dubai.
