With hundreds of victories under his belt, endless prestige and a position as ninth greatest Briton in history (well, according to public vote anyway), Horatio Nelson probably doesn’t need a bar in the Media Rotana to increase his standing. Still, he probably wouldn’t be too displeased with this place, which makes an admirable attempt at recreating a British-style pub in the dusty wilderness of Al Barsha.

Though it’s still fairly new, the place has fast built up a reputation with the local expat community, pulling in not only UK expats but also Arabic and South-Asian customers who crowd in for the DJ’s eclectic mix of pop music. Food is standard pub fare, but the staff are polite and welcoming and the cavernous space means that there’s plenty of room for barflies and private tables alike.
