Here at Time Out, we love a clever name. So imagine our delight (or at least mild amusement) when we found out that the bar at JBR Walk’s recently opened Mövenpick hotel is called ‘The Talk’. As in ‘The Talk of The Walk’, you see.

But a name like that suggests a slightly more bombastic venue – in reality, this is actually a huge and rather chilled-out daytime bar/restaurant. The expansive outdoor area, next to a swimming pool, is perfect for sunny-day lolling about, while the colourful interior (which is at its best at night, when the orange decor lights up) is perfect for a chat and a snack.

And fine snacks they are too. While the choice is fairly limited and the food rather bland-looking, the pizzas and sandwiches are bursting with flavour and seem to be made with fresh ingredients. The staff are also attentive, which adds to the experience.

But while the restaurant and al-fresco side of things are both great, the bar area is rather small, and feels like a half-hearted add-on. This and the early closing time make it great for meeting friends before a night out, but not a place to stay for too long.
