Immediately behind Mall of the Emirates lies the brand spaking new Citymax Hotel, a great three-star find for thirsty shoppers and office workers looking to kick back. For sure, it’s no Bahri Bar, but it’s not trying to be.

In fact, it’s a charming live music spot with a fun resident band, The Usual Suspects, playing covers of old favourites like ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ alongside more recent chart hits. Service is shockingly efficient for Dubai, and the staff are a welcoming, friendly bunch, even on busier nights. Drinks are very reasonably priced, with a glass of house grape just Dhs25. Munchies, meanwhile, include everything from pub grub-style nachos and chicken wings to more filling lamb chops and steak options.

Fantastic place to go with friends! Cheap drinks, good music, good band, great atmosphere. Exactly what you're looking for in a night out with friends if you're tired of the uppity lounges and ritzy clubs of Dubai. Also, call for the drink deals. Every day of the week except Thursday has an unbeatable deal.

This is my local bar, but I seem to go in less and less these days. The band needs changing in my opinion, the line up has evolved over the last 9 months but not for the better. Far too repetitive and it's become boring and stale.

The numbers of customers seem to be dwindling, so I feel justified in my comments.

The hotel needs to recognise the need to evolve. The staff are great though and I don't understand some of the negative views on that.

As far as i am concerned i come down here everyweek for the music.they have a great resident band that does a whole bunch of great covers classic and new. the band is far from dull at all they are actually really good and very entertaining! the bar is cozy! the food needs a little bit of improvement and waitress staff needs to smile a whole lot more. the beers and alcohol are fairly priced and affordable... its my hangout place every week end if i need a good night with my friends with some good lager and live music!!! well done maxx bar

This has to be the one of the worst bars i have ever been to, the music is always the same.... they have one set that they repeat (very dull), try something new!! The food is very bad, all fried and with no flavor. The steaks are horrible... its like they have been dipped in BBQ sauce. The service is slow and staff are not sure what they are doing. I also tried the bar opposite (in citymax) The Lounge !!!! its even worse, who is running this hotel, it smells like stale smoke, there are tvs on tables?? and service is so slow! Someone has told me this is part of the landmark group... what happened???? carluccios and mango tree are so good.

band is kicking!!!!!! i come for the music and drinks are reasonably priced. and crowd is good as well. excellent place to come with friends and enjoy great live music

IT is a great Bar with great Band, staff are very friendly and helpful and steaks are great.

Great New Venue, the band is most excellent, friendly staff, delicious food. Even a motorcycle at the entrance!
