Though positioned atop the Holiday Inn Dubai Internet City, most taxi drivers will strongly disagree with the hotel’s labelling, and rightly so; this bar is in fact located in Knowledge Village. Once you’ve overcome this geographic hurdle, an extremely pleasant surprise awaits. One of the city’s hidden gems, you’ll find no snooty crowds or vapid posers here: instead, guests are greeted warmly by staff, and can choose to sit either by the entrance to the bar’s bejewelled interior, or on the sun-splashed deck looking out to towards the Palm Jumeirah.

The latter is one of the most relaxing spots for an after-work drink or a laid-back weekend soirée with friends. Generously-sized and enormously comfortable sofa booths are a well-thought-out addition to the terrace, where you can catch a great sunset and enjoy cooler evenings. Service can be a little slow, but the staff are otherwise so pleasant it’s hard to be bothered by this. Drinks are reasonably priced, and there’s a range of refreshing mixed beverages to choose from (which can be ordered by the litre), plus plenty of great fodder and shisha options to accompany them. Top marks all round.
