From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011

A legend amongst expats, the Irish Village is still a draw down in Garhoud even though most of its patrons have moved to the other end of town. A large cobbled terrace houses numerous large wooden tables where groups gather for good ol’ fashioned stodge – fish and chips, steak sandwiches and bangers and mash – and proper pork bangers at that. The food can be hit or miss, depending on how busy the pub is and the service is normally a little on the grumpy side but this is part of its charm – it makes a change from the constant ‘ma’am-ing’ you get everywhere else. The portions are consistently huge and the prices leave plenty left for indulging in their draught hops which helps to keep this place as a perennial favourite. In winter, there’s nowhere better to while away an afternoon, especially now the Aviation Club’s renovations are coming to an end, but it’s worth remembering that on a Friday, the only food on offer is a brunch – which is a little like an Irish Sunday roast. The large space outside means that it’s a good bet for large groups to gather and the live music and the flurry of hops-related festivals mean that the Irish Village isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a good night out.

i do like the irish village, there are not many places in dubai where u can sit outside and enjoy a pint. the food is not amazing but you would not come here just for the food, i eat here to soak up some of the beer i drink. its relaxed and very casual and here you meet real people.

Its a big disappointment and uncool to change enterance policy at the last minute @ Oktoberfest. And the staff wasnt nice at all.

Before going to the Hopfest/Oktoberfest, we called several times to confirm that there was no cover charge. We were told there was not.

To our surprise and dismay, upon arrival at Irish Village (with a large group of people), we were told there was in fact a cover charge. The staff was quite rude about this.

Furthermore, Irish Village pulled this same stunt last year.

If you like being lied to, then sure, come here.

If not, I suggest you find elsewhere to spend your money.

Living less than 5 mins walk away from the Irish Village, it's a spot we frequent regularly. Although the service can be questionable, the food itself is very good. Great live music and a relaxed outdoor setting make it one of my favourite pre-clubbing destinations and it's overall it's a great place to hang out any day/night of the week.
