The Deck
Byblos bar with a nautical theme 1 Reviews
Considering its location inside a hotel named after an ancient port town in Lebanon (aka Byblos), it comes as no great surprise to find that this new outlet has a nautical theme. The Deck, unfortunately, resembles more of a ghost ship than any other vessel of maritime legend. Set across three steeply stacked platforms, more akin to a tennis stadium than a ship, the terrace is an extension of the Murjan coffee shop. Overlooking little but construction sites and roads, it’s certainly an unusual location at which to enjoy shisha (available for Dhs40), yet when the café’s busy, the staff can be a little neglectful of patrons outside.
On the plus side, The Deck is licensed: TECOM residents may be grateful merely to have another reasonably-priced option with a little more leg room than Rock Bottom and a little less trash talk than Nelson’s. For shisha, however, you’ll be better off sticking to the more soothing surroundings of The Terrace at the Media Rotana.
