New Scottish pub gives impression of old drinking den Discuss this article
Located in the newly opened yet oddly retro Ramada Jumeirah hotel, this Scottish pub appears to have already gained a few regulars. Though its gleaming floors shatter the illusion somewhat, the specially imported beverages on offer go some way to making up the impression you’re really in a Scots drinking den. Like sports? You’re also in luck, because the glow of various games emanates from screens around the bar.
In terms of aesthetics, little sets this new watering hole apart from many others in Dubai, but the cheery, chatty (and admittedly slightly quirky) bar staff certainly do. If you’re tiring of the nearby St Andrews in Satwa’s Rydges Plaza hotel, this more polished pub could do the trick. Drinks are modestly priced, with a glass of house grape weighing in at a reasonable Dhs30, and there are all manner of snacks and meals available if you’re feeling peckish, including Scottish dishes.
The only complaint we have about this otherwise perfectly agreeable bar is the prevailing smell of stale smoke – if there were any windows, it might be hard to stop yourself popping a few open. But if the only problem this place has can be solved with better air circulation, we anticipate plain sailing from there on for The Docks.
