A barbershop where a man can be a man, sit down, get an ice-cold drink and shoot the breeze with like-minded chaps, while getting a clean haircut and straight shave. The first thing that strikes you about Chaps&Co is the style oozing out of every corner, and also out of every barber. The waiting area features a widescreen TV.
On it? FIFA 2017 on the PlayStation, naturally. Opposite, the presentation of the salon name is a work of art – lit up by individual bulbs in an iron shelling. The cut itself is expertly done. Jay has made using clippers an art form, flipping between blades, tools and lengths as a painter would pick his brushes, but thankfully applying them studiously rather than like some reckless post-modern conceptual artist.
Even the follicly challenged could get something out of an hour at Chaps&Co. You leave with a strut in you step, feeling every bit as dapper as the décor.
