We try unique ‘perfect apothecary mani-pedi’ at shiny new spa
The promise Spa Cordon prides itself on offering natural, organic products, and five-star treatments without the hotel spa price tag. I’ve opted to try the all-natural (apart from the polish) ‘perfect’ mani-pedi from the apothecary nail bar.
Step by step I choose my polish colours before my pedicurist, Gladis, talks me through the individual scrubs and masques that will be used for my hands and feet. Once I sit down, I’m given a shoulder and neck massage, and a heated compress to wear, before selecting fizzy bath bombs for my hands and feet. Gladis and Candi then get to work: as scrubs and masques are applied and removed, I sink further into my highly relaxed state, enjoying another shoulder and upper back rub from Candi as I sit with heated mittens on my hands and feet. Once the polish is applied, Gladis performs a ‘closing’ massage on my neck and shoulders.
The results As well as having perfectly groomed nails, I feel far less flustered than on arrival, and it continues for the rest of the evening. It’s a world away from some of Dubai’s spotlit mani-pedi factories, ensuring the experience feels like a treat.
Pros • Staff are extremely friendly, and determined to make sure you’re as comfy and relaxed as possible. • All the products are 100 percent natural, and their ingredients are explained at every stage. • This is the most pampered I’ve felt during a mani-pedi anywhere in town.
Cons • There are only three seats in the nail bar, which is great for relaxation – but if the spa gets the recognition it deserves, you may have trouble getting an appointment.
