The promise For Dhs50 a month, the GlamBox service delivers a selection of beauty samples to your door. The aim is to help consumers sort through the clutter and find products that really work for them.
Step by step My box arrives containing a variety of products for me to try, including a Green Bar apricot and grapefruit body oil, a Herbline Essentials papaya and honey face mask, a small vial of Gatineau defi-lift face serum and a contouring make-up brush. Unfortunately, as I open the box, the body oil tumbles out and smashes. It smells divine, but I’m not going to risk massaging small glass fragments into my skin. I decide to try the face mask to begin with and follow the instructions, dampening my face first. I apply the mask with my fingers, intending to leave it for ten minutes, as prescribed. After barely two minutes, the stinging sensation is so uncomfortable I’m forced to remove it. Once my skin is rinsed, I apply a layer of the day and night serum before heading to bed. The next morning, I try the contouring brush with highlighter on my cheek and brow bone.
The results I certainly won’t try the mask again, and the serum appears a touch too light for my dry skin. I need something a little oilier. The narrow contouring brush is by far my favourite, and I continue to use it as part of my daily make-up routine.
Pros • I may not have liked all the products, but at least I didn’t have to buy the standard-sized product to find this out. • The samples are large enough for a couple of uses – enough to find out if it works for your skin.
Cons • There’s no telling what you will receive each month.
